This is a replacement battery cover plate for a PocketWizard FlexTT5 or FlexTT6. To replace the plate, follow the instructions in the video below. This will also allow you to remove the battery door to check it for any corrosion. It is a good idea to clean it with a pencil eraser while you have the part out.

Note: Be sure to just pop off the top left corner of the battery cover. Sometimes it can be very stiff the first time you take it off. Using your finger or a small screwdriver is usually best.

No power from your FlexTT5 or FlexTT6 with fresh batteries? Intermittent problems with the radio? Check your battery contacts. If you’ve had a battery leak or sometimes even just with age or moisture, the metal on the door may become corroded. If the radio gets power from the USB connection, there’s a good chance the issue might just be the contacts.

It can be hard to see the metal contacts when it’s connected to the radio so the best way to check is to remove the door. The video below will show you how to take it off.  It will also let you check the internal spring contacts as well. You can try cleaning the metal on the door with a pencil eraser or if you see corrosion, you can rub it with aluminum foil and add a drop or two of lemon juice or vinegar if needed.

You can verify the door is getting a good connection by watching the LED on the radio and wiggling the door. When you first turn it on, you should see a bold green blink (or a red green red green pattern if you have upgraded to the E Release), followed by a lighter green blink every second or so. If you wiggle the battery door, you should not see that bold green blink again.

If you can’t get the contacts clean or if you are still having trouble, you can simply replace the door.

This part will fit both FlexTT5 and FlexTT6 radios and will work for Nikon, Canon, or Panasonic versions.

Note: Be sure to just pop off the top left corner of the battery cover. Sometimes it can be very stiff the first time you take it off. Using your finger or a small screwdriver is usually best.

Your light stand took a tumble in the wind, and your radio took the brunt of the fall!  You need a replacement hot shoe so you can get working again!

Our radios are made from an glass-reinforced resin material, and shouldn’t break with normal usage. However, if gear gets dropped or knocked over, there is a high risk that some piece of gear will get damaged. A plastic foot allows for a less expensive (and user-serviceable) part to need replacement over a more expensive part like a camera or flash repair. In general, photography equipment like cameras and flashes and radios are not designed to be dropped or knocked over. We’re no exception. We provide a simpler, less expensive, and more accessible repair solution in these situations.

You can replace the shoe yourself if you’re comfortable with minor repairs, take a look at the video below for details. If you’d rather send it in, please contact us.

This replacement part is compatible with the FlexTT5 or FlexTT6 radios. The Nikon version is for the Nikon FlexTT5 only. The Canon version is for the Canon FlexTT5, Canon FlexTT6, or the Panasonic FlexTT5. Please be sure to choose the correct one for your radio from the drop down menu.

One note: There is a metal hinge pin for the door that can slip down. If you are having a hard time snapping the unit back together, slide the hinge pin all the way up then try again.
