How do I use it with my PocketWizard Radios?
Pair your Raven with your FlexTT5 and/or FlexTT6 radios*, connected to your Nikon or Canon speedlights and take advantage of the new OLED full color touchscreen. You can select and adjust your lighting zones, then tweak power levels in either manual or TTL with a simple turn of the dial. The Raven has many of the features developed for the FlexTT5 radios, including PowerTracking. With the touchscreen, those features are even easier to use than ever. Use the display to quickly find the perfect exposure, either in manual or TTL, then set the flash output level. Now you can adjust your aperture, ISO, or both, without having to worry about overexposing or underexposing your subject. The Raven will automatically adjust flash power levels to keep the same output you set. Find the perfect depth of field without having to readjust your flash every time!
Take HyperSync to the next level with the Raven’s new SyncView feature! The built in light meter captures the flash profile and the touchscreen displays a never-before-seen representation of flash intensity over the length of the shutter cycle. Push your shutter speed to the limits by simply rotating the ring dial to optimize timing of your flash. Now you can see the exact perfect timing to get the fastest possible shutter speed with your strobe.
Can I just use it for flash or will it trigger remote cameras, too?
Remote camera triggering has never been more reliable than with the Raven. This new powerhouse has a built in noise meter so you can see a visual representation of Channel noise for each of the 32 flash control Channels and the 130 camera control Channels. The E Release technology already was unmatched for its range and reliability but the Raven kicks that up another notch. With built in SAW (surface acoustic wave) filter – a first in the industry – noise is reduced dramatically. A custom designed antenna improves beam uniformity and range to make the Raven the most reliable transmitter possible.
Once you find the best Channel to use, set up your remote Plus IIIe radios and use the new Signal Strength meter to verify that you’ve got the perfect setup. Your Plus IIIe can send a ping back to the Raven to let you know that there’s a strong signal or warn you that you might want to move your remotes. With the built in photo counter, your Plus IIIe will also send a message back to the Raven to let you know how many triggers it sent to your remote camera. With up to 8 remote Zones, you can capture every angle of the game without having to move!
*The Raven is fully compatible with any PocketWizard using the new E Release protocol. You may need to upgrade your PocketWizard radios to the E Release firmware if you have not done so already.
